How to design robust algorithms using noisy comparison Oracle

Metric based comparison operations such as finding maximum, nearest and farthest neighbor are fundamental to studying various clustering techniques k -center agglomerative hierarchical clustering. These crucially rely on accurate estimation of pairwise distance between records. However, computing exact features the records, their distances is often challenging, sometimes not possible. We circumvent this challenge by leveraging weak supervision in form a oracle that compares relative queried points `Is point u closer v or w x ?'. it possible some queries easier answer than others using oracle. capture introducing two different noise models called adversarial probabilistic noise. In paper, we study problems include nearest/farthest search under these models. Building upon develop for problems, give robust algorithms prove our achieve good approximation guarantees with high probability analyze query complexity. evaluate effectiveness efficiency empirically real-world datasets.
